Dr John Lenton received his first degree in Modern History at Oxford University and taught in many different schools, moving to Shropshire in 1974 to be for twenty-one years Deputy Head of Charlton School Wellington. He took early retirement to concentrate on Methodist history. He was Convener of the Methodist Church Archives and History Committee for 15 years and is the Honorary Librarian of the Wesley Historical Society Library at Oxford Brookes University, where he took his PhD last year. He has a number of publications, the most important being John Wesley’s Preachers, which was published by Paternoster in 2009. He has been interested in genealogy for 60 years, and is particularly interested in the genealogy of Methodist ministers.
