My relative Lady beryl smedley nee Harley did family research in shropshire and NZ in the 70's and wrote the book The harleys of Nelson.
I am trying to clarify about my direct ancestor William Harley, probably Born 1767. his parents Thomas and Isabella carpenter from bridgenorth/ neenton
However there were 2 william Harleys who both died in Bridgenorth in 1847 according to the official list
one had parents Thomas and isabella carpenter. Not sure about the other
One was married to Nancy Davis and the other to a Mary Jinks.
They both had children of similar names and lived in Neenton although the one who married mary jinks (who came from Wolverhampton) was also having children in Wolverhampton and neenton.
i have various records but nothing that clarifies exactly who were the parents of both williams.
william who married mary and had possibly my GGF Charles who went to NZ lived in wolverhampton and in neenton at different times. Charles born 10/3/1805 neenton. also possibly Joice and JobTheir other children in Wolverhampton Mary & william.
Mary jinks with her son george harley and his brother william are in the 1851 census
but not the father who had died in 1847. I can't find them in the 1841 census
william b. 1767 and nancy are in the 1841 census in neenton with williams brother? charles b. 1756
if there is anyone in your area or society who can clarify this for me i would much appreciate it

both williams died in bridgenorth in the same year.. 1847
how do i see the actual death certificae record and/or info. and not just the listing of deaths?
i would also love to find out where william and mary were for the 1841 census.
i only found william and nancy in 1841 neenton and Mary in 1851 in wolverhampton.
i assume that the bridgenorth historical society has the Harleys of Nelson Book by Beryl smedley.

I've just picked up on the thread above, and have a query. Does your Harley Tree include Elizabeth Harley (1772-18Jan1856) who married John Minton (1772-23May1855)? They were married in Bridgenorth on 31 March 1811 as this was where Elizabeth was living, John was living in Cleobury North. At the time of this death John owned a number of farms in Shropshire, including Neenton Health in Neenton. They lived in the Manor House Farm, Cleobury North until their passing. John's sister Mary Minton married Richard Hall, my 3xGGF.
