Horton Inn

Was looking at 1891 census and found the Horseshoe Inn, Horton next to the Weslyan Chapel. Looking on Street View that is now a conversion. Does anyone know of any details of Inn. Publican was George Bate/s My relation was Thomas Merrington age 12

Hello Baz

There are some records at Shropshire Archives which I looked at many years ago.  From memory at that time it was a book on the open shelves.  Some of the information it included were references to prosecutions against the various landlords.

Another source which may provide some indirect references are the Shropshire Quarter Sessions Records from 1831 - 1920 which are available on CD-ROM from Shropshire FHS.  See Shop on the blue bar above right then Publications Catalogue.  The same information is available to personal visitors in Shropshire Archives.
