OK so sorry Ketley again. Looking at 1821 census I notice Ketley Wharf. Not heard of it before and I was wondering if anyone was aware of it and where it was in Ketley?

Ketley Wharf suggests a loading area associated with either a canal or a railway.

The railway, Wellington to Much Wenlock Branch, which served Ketley, was not built when the 1821 census was taken.

Which leaves the canal as a possibilty. The web page titled Shropshire Canals has the following account regarding the Ketley Canal, built about 1788, at the following page:

http://shropshirehistory.com/canals/canals/ketley.htm

The maps in the account indicate two potential sites of wharves associated with the Ketley Canal.

The online 6 inch Ordnance Survey map (1888-1913,) for the Ketley area, available through the National Library of Scotland, includes remnants of the Ketley Canal, but nothing to suggest wharves when the maps were prepared.

Also take a look at the referenced account of the Ketley Canal at Wikipedia:

Thanks mate, a map does show a wharf probably coal at the end of the canal by the works and one near Red Lees the side of the canal.
