There are two sources that come to mind immediately.

Trade Directories - These can be found in libraries and archives and also online at the Special Collections Online on the University of Leicester web site.

There are also some trade directories on the two main pay as go web sites.  Search on the name you have and Cleobury Mortimer and see what comes up.

The other source you might like to try is the Cleobury Mortimer & District History Society

Having looked at a couple of trade directories I can't find any mention of a New Inn at Cleobury Mortimer.

What is the source of your information?  If it is a death certificate is it recorded in the Cleobury Mortimer Registration District rather than the infant dying in Cleobury Mortimer?

Is it possible that the New Inn was in one of the villages nearby?

Don't forget that Cleobury Mortimer Registration District included small pieces of Herefordshire (to 1844) and Worcestershire (to 1934).  See the UK BMD list of Registration Districts.

170 / Twenty Sixth December 1921 New Inn Cleobury Mortimer R. D. / George Henry Boraston / . . . . / T. W. Boraston Father In Attendance Nethercote Farm Neen Savage / . . .

I don't think there was ever an Inn at Neen Savage. Was there one at the railway station (where 'The Old Station' Business Park is now) or was the 'Blount Arms' renamed at some point in the past?

The only other possibilities are Bayton, there were relations at Nineveh or possibly Rock. However these seem a long way from Nethercote to travel for a pregnant woman, although the baby was premature.

The earliest memories I have of the area are from the mid 50s visiting my grandparents at Barbrook and being shown Nethercote, (where my mother was born), the Ford at Neen Savage, the Whirlpool and Papermill Cottages, (my grandparents later lived in one in the early 60s).

(from Parishmouse)  didn't give any names for premises.

THE REDFERN HOTEL, 10, LOWER STREET
Formerly known as: No.10 New Inn LOWER STREET. House, then Inn, now hotel. 
(from listed buildings site) It is actually now a private house alongside New Inn Row and next to The Bell.

The house I live in down Pinkham Lane (now Mill Farm) used to be called the New Inn if that helps.

My apologies for a tardy response.

Is your house the one described as 'the old inn' near Pinkham Mill in 'Cleobury Country Walks, Walk 3: The Mawley Hall Tour'? There is a photo in the leaflet.

I'd be interested in anything you can tell me about its days as an Inn around 1921, especially if you know of any connection to the Boraston/Tyler/Garbett families.

My G'gdad lived his final days at Lower Forge, late 1920s/early '30s.

The 1921 Census has my maternal Ggma as manageress of the New Inn, Cleobury Mortimer but doesn't specify the Street, which explains the death of the infant occurring there. The Bewery was identified as Ind Coope, does this help identify it's location?
