I have hit a brickwall trying to find information about my 3rd great grandmother Hannah POUNDFORD. Using the 1841 census as a guide she was born in Shropshire in 1781. She married George HANDLEY in Coreley in 1803. I cannot find any record for Hannah prior to 1803. I tried googling POUNDFORD family Coreley and I saw mention of "Pound Ford House Shutfields Coreley Clee Hill Ludlow Shropshire SY8 3QN". Does anyone know anything about this house. Is it named after the POUNDFORD family? Hannah died in 1850 and in the 1851 census widower George was living in Shutfields. I am now intrigued as to whether the house has any connection to me.

Hi Barbara,

Anne (variant of Hannah) POUNDFORD was Christened on 31st March 1782 at Coreley. Daughter of Thomas & Margaret.
Several siblings for Anne are also listed.
I note that a witness at the 1803 marriage was an Eliza POUNDFORD. There is a Christening of an Eliza in Coreley in 1787,  daughter of William POUNDFORD & Elizabeth, so they may link into the family.
All info' is on the FmP web site.

Thank you Gwynne. I am now inclined to think that Anne and Hannah are the same people. I cannot see any other options.

Hi Barbara,

By using the FmP and Family Search web sites, you should get further back.
Anne, c1782 had at least four siblings. Her parents were Thomas & Margaret.
Her father Thomas was Christened 1759, a twin to William and they had at least three other siblings.
Their parents were John & Hannah.

Handley descendant

Hello Fiona,

I noticed your call for descendants of George & Hannah Handley. Their daugther, Ann Handley born 1837, was my maternal great-great-great grandmother. I have done quite a bit of research on Ann and her off-spring so I'd be happy to help you if I can.

I'm currently writing a novel about my ancestors and this month I'm concentrating on Ann Handley. If you go to www.pantlin.eu you can read some of my stories so far. You will find my family tree there too. I also have a dedicated blog on facebook.

Barbara Handley and I are distantly related, George Handley is our common ancestor. I have regular contact with Barbara.

You can contact me at michael@pantlin.eu

Hope to hear from you,

Michael
