I am researching William Robert RUGG vicar of Criftins and then West Lullingfields from 1894 til he died in 1937. Would be grateful if anyone has any information they could give me on the family. I do have some photographs of him and his son Reginald Francis RUGG if they are of any use to the society.
Hello
Are you aware that there is a gravestone on the grave of William and Annie RUGG in Weston Lullingfields churchyard?
You can see a transcript of the text and a photograph on the Stanwardine web site.
Mike
Thank you to the people who posted information on this ancestor of mine. It was very helpful
The Reverend William R RUGG baptised my mother, who was born nearby at The Gadlas, at Criftins in 1914 and later he also officiated at my parents marriage at Weston Lullingfields in December 1935. My father, like most of our family, was known by his second forename Percy and was known by that name to the Reverend, who on filling in the marriage certificate pre-filled in "Percy" and then asked what his other name was to which my father said Evan, but when Dad went to sign he saw that his names were the wrong way round and explained this to Rev Rugg who solved the mix up by writing a 2 above Percy and a 1 above Evan.
