If ancestors were born in Shelton, Shrewsbury, where is the likely church they would be baptised in? I have checked St Chad, Julian & Mary.

Hi Mike thanks for the reply i was looking at 6 possible ancestors who were listd in the 1851 census being born in shelton the 1st about 1839 upto 1848 ,there address was shelton and the parish shrewsbury st julian, i checked the churches in the previous comment. I also have a g,g,grandmother who's maiden name was Hulme 1836-1904 from shrewsbury, her parents were Joseph a painter and eliza maiden name Moore from Shrewsbury any relation ?. Regards Robert.

Will you please give us the name(s) and year of birth of your ancestor(s) who were born at Shelton so we can work out what is going on.
With regard to your HULME ancestors in Shrewsbury, I have looked at them several times over the years but never found any connection to my own family who were farmers from Cheshire.

Hi Mike here are names and dates 1, James george GRIFFITHS b,1839 / 2, Eliza GRIFFITHS b1841 / 3,Arthur Charles GRIFFITHS b 1842 / 4, William Henry GRIFFITHS b1844 / 5,Samuel Elijah GRIFFITHS b1846 / 6,Charlotte GRIFFITHS b 1848, There parents i believe were James & Eliza GRIFFITHS he being a coach builder, her maiden name was GRIFFITHS when they married, he was a widower she a widow Eliza DUCKET, on some documents the surname is GRIFFITH.

What date and location are you looking for?
Historically the area was in the parish of Shrewsbury: St Chad. Bicton was a Chapelry in St Chad's parish but became a separate parish in 1810 and was re-founded in 1853. The register was included with St Chad's until 1853 after which Bicton had its own registers.
In addition there is the parish of Shelton and Oxon which was created in 1855, also from St Chad's. The registers start from 1855 and 1856.
