Hello

I wondered if anyone knows if marriages were carried out at the above during the mid 1880's If so do you know where the records are kept.  I am aware the baptisms and burials are on Findmypast, but no marriages.  I cannot see them listed as being at the Acrhives neither.

Any help appreciated

Regards Sue

Hello Sue

A building had to be licenced to carry out marriages so the URC may not have been.

Like you I can't see any trace of marriages there but when I look at the Whixall marriage entries I see that most of them are recorded as taking place at Whixall Chapel or in the Chapel at Whixall.

Don't forget to check the marriages at Prees which was the parent church.

Hello Sue

If you go into the Shropshire Marriages on Find my Past and just start typing Whixall in the Marriage Place field it should tell you there are 412 results.

You hadn't given a name so I couldn't look any further.
