Hi Saidy, I have had a quick look and cannot see your William Brown, as I would like to see if I can help. Can you say where he was living in 1901 and possibly who was living with him, to pinpoint the correct WB?

There are at least 3 Cross Greens in Shropshire.

Hello Saidy

Continuing the last point in the reply above, we have:-

Cross Green, Allscott, Wrockwardine

Cross Green, Berwick, Shrewsbury - Note that this is now spelt Crossgreen (without a space) on the modern Ordnance Survey map

Cross Green, Ellerton Wood, Cheswardine

Do you have any information, through the family or from other census, which would establish which of these three places your relative came from? You need this before you have any hope of finding a Birth / Baptism for someone with such a common name.

Can you find any brothers or sisters of William, perhaps with a more unusual forename, that might be easier to track down?
