I am looking for the 1891 census record for, Absalom (Absolom, Abraham have seen this spelt many different ways) PITCHFORD, he was born in Shropshire, England 1840.

He was mentioned in the 1881 census, Wrockwardine, Wellington, Shropshire, New St as a coal miner, with wife Rachel (1844), daughters Florence (1868), Mary (1874) and son Herbert James PITCHFORD (1876)

He the family reappear in the 1901 census, in new street, St George, Shropshire, England, Absolam is a coal miner and hewer, and his son Herbert James as a hotel barman.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Ben

If you look at the 1891 census for 22, Holyhead Road, Wednesbury,
Staffordshire (RG12/2276 folio 24 page 2) you will find Rachel and Herbert.

She is described as Wife and Married but her husband is not at home.

In the 1891 census for Castleford, Yorkshire (RG12/3763 Folio 90 Page 35) there is an Absalom PICKFORD who fits very well with your ancestor.

Thank you for your swift reply, that's great, that leaves the girls and the 1881 census states New Road and the 1901 census states New Road, seems odd that they moved away then back? I just wondered if there was anywhere else I can look for a record of them?
