I am researching my family history for a project that I have been set.

I am signed on to ancestry.com and have been looking through some censuses. I have found many of the people I need but none of the censuses I have used contain where they lived or their age etc. They simply contain their name...Once I have found the census is there somewhere I can go to and get more information about those people?
(sorry if this is a little unclear, I can't think of a more adequete way to word it...)
Thank you

Hi Amelia, I think the key question to you is, do you have an Ancestry account or are you using a library's Ancestry account? If so, and e.g. you search for James STOCKTON in Shropshire on the 1861 Census, you should see "View Record" to the left of the names, which will display a transcription of the household or to the right will be a "View Image" Icon, that will display a scan of the actual census enumerators page. However if you aren't on one of those 2 types of account and are just browsing then you will only see the index, and the above mentioned links will take you to a sign-up page, this is to entice you to join or buy credits to see more detail, the same happens on FindMyPast.
If you were local to Shrewsbury, then you could perhaps pop into Shropshire Archives and look at the microfiche of the censuses held there and transcribe the information you are after, now you now .
