I am trying to find if a relation had made a will as he died in 1992 in Stoke on Trent hospital and wonder if there is a way to find out. I would be grateful for any advice as to how to proceed.
Ancestry have the Wills indexes from 1858 to 1966 but that isn't any help to you in this case.
You should have a look at the Probate section of the Justice web site where it explains how you can obtain a copy by post from their Leeds office if you are unable to visit a local Probate office - the nearest used to be Birmingham.
The fee is £6 - ask for a copy of the Will and the Grant - both should be included in the fee.
