Hi everybody

Does anybody happen to know where i might find records relating to Stretton House Lunatic Asylum, please?  My Great Grandfather Joseph ROBINSON died there in February 1871 and I'm wondering whether there might exist patient records and/photos.  He was a brewer and a town councillor in Liverpool in the 1860's, but I can find little detailed information about him.

Hope somebody can help.  Thanks.

Bill

Hello Bill

If you put "Stretton House Lunatic Asylum" (without the quotes) into a search engine you will come up with some interesting links. In particular you might like to look at the Discovering Shropshire site.

Hi Mike

Our internet and email have been off for a over a week, so I'm sorry for not responding sooner.  Thanks for your reply.  I had already found that site, thanks.  I saw Who Do You Think You Are a couple of weeks ago where Gregg Wallace discovered an ancestor who died in a lunatic asylum where patient records still exist and where they routinely took photos of discharged patients.  I'm hoping I might be able to find something similar for my GG Grandgather Joseph ROBINSON.  I'll try local libraries and the like in Church Stretton and Shropshire.  Thanks again.
