I am researching the family of John Walker Blase b, 1839 in Stepney.  His father, Thomas, was a customs officer.  I have found the marriage of Thomas Blase to Elizabeth Walker, 1795, Fleet Street, London. She was from Morville Salop. I believe these are the parents of Thomas. I cannot find the baptism of Thomas but children of Thomas and Elizabeth may have been baptised in Broseley; another John Walker, Jane and Ellen.  I have found records of  a Thomas Blase, Malster from Broseley and the John Walker from Broseley was also a malster.  Can anyone tell me how to find the baptism of Elizabeth Walker of Morville around 1773, or any Thomas Blase of Broseley.  There are lots of connections between my John Walker and the Salop John Walker but why would a couple travel all the way to London to marry?

Thank you for any information.

Hello Yvonne

You will need to organise yourself a trip to Shrewsbury to look at a transcript of the Morville Registers at Shropshire Archives. The transcript covers 1562-1812 plus marriages 1813-1837.

Looking at the Shropshire Archives Guide (see 'Online services and downloads' then 'parish registers updated 2012 01.pdf' low down the page) it appears that all the original registers for Morville are still in the parish, which is rather unusual.

Thomas Blease was baptised at Broseley on 14th July 1751 to Thomas & Margaret.
